9 Interior Design Highlights Of 2019 We Fell In Love With
We know this is a phrase you’ll be hearing on repeat right now, but how have we reached the end of 2019 already?! In terms of interior design, the last twelve months have brought us some extremely stylish moments.
It felt like the year Instagram became the place to be if you had a renovation project, and hotels, bars and restaurants gave us a plethora of interior design inspiration – places we hadn’t considered before for residential properties.
Today we wanted to share ten interior design highlights from 2019, from everyday homes which capture something special, through to larger scale projects which have inspired us in some way.
Olivia Silk, founder of Lust Living, recently revealed this children’s bedroom makeover and we couldn’t love these quirky design choices anymore! The peach tones, rainbow motif wallpaper and bohemian touches, make this the perfect room for a child to grow up in. (Image credit)
We couldn’t not post a Three Birds Renovations project in our round up of 2019, and the Hinterland Hideaway was an absolute dream of Australian coastal interior design. In this space, the bathroom is open within the master suite, meaning the design of the room had to translate across both areas. The curves of the handles are an unexpected juxtaposition with the geometric tiles on the flooring, while the mirrored wall reflects the natural greenery outside back into the room. (Image credit)
There are some wall colours that catch our eye instantly and Craig & Rose’s Morris Blue does just that. Here we can see it used as a statement wall in Victoria Jackson, founder of Apartment Number 4’s rental apartment. Doesn’t it just make the headboard and art deco bedside table lamp just pop? Would it be a round-up if we didn’t include Kimberly Duran’s Shrewsbury renovation in here somewhere? The latest room makeover from the Swoonworthy blog founder, is her dining room extension. How gorgeous is this fireplace makeover with pink gloss tiles? We love the use of brass throughout and the antique mirror retains the character of the house, set against the modern silhouette of the chairs. (Image credit)
Now THIS is an office makeover! From the team at Sugar & Cloth – a popular DIY blog in the US – this office renovation is absolutely stunning. From the turquoise paint choice to the panelling, the statement velvet teal chairs, to the walnut table and matching side lamps, everything about this makeover is unexpected, quirky but still incredibly stylish. If you’re looking for a little traditional luxury, then the home of fashion designer and blogger, Rachel Parcel, might be the property to check out. Her master bedroom reveal showcased the most amazing powder blue cherry blossom print wallpaper, brought to life even further by the blend of light, soft textures used throughout the room. The Hoxton Hotel recently opened its latest addition to its portfolio in Southwark, London. Not that you’d expect anything else from the Hoxton chain, but the brand’s use of eclectic, mismatched interior design is just as prominent here as it is in Paris. With Scandinavian design elements, and mid-century modern silhouettes, it’s clear to see why so many of us are taking inspiration from hotels when it comes to decorating our homes. Do the blush pink velvet armchairs come with the price of the room please? (Image credit)
Luke Arthur Wells is a UK interior design blogger and is a fantastic source of inspiration if you’re looking to create a more minimalist style of interior. In this spare bedroom makeover – which was part of Revamp Restyle Reveal season 3 – Luke shows us how he built a corner workstation from scratch. How amazing is the finished product? (Image credit)
We couldn’t share our top 9 moments and not have a dark, sultry living room included. 2019 felt like the year that everyone took to the dark paints, and although we expect that to change in 2020 as we move to lighter, more neutral shades, this grey living room from Design Sixty Nine is absolutely stunning – and just goes to show what a raft of colours work with grey tones, including red, teal, and gold accents.
